Member of the House of Representatives representing Yewa North/Imeko-Afon Federal Constituency, Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, has described the death of Ondo State governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, as a loss for the state, Yoruba land and the entire country.
Earlier on Wednesday, it was reported that Akeredolu died at the age of 67 after a protracted illness.
According to a statement he personally signed on Wednesday night, Isiaka said, with Akeredolu’s death, the South-West has lost a shining light whose visionary role was pivotal to actualising the Nigerian dream.
The statement read: “I am profoundly distraught to learn of the passing of a dear brother and Leader, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, the Governor of Ondo state after his courageous battle with illness at the age of 67.
“This loss leaves the South-West bereft of a towering pillar, Ondo State robbed of a caring helmsman, Nigeria deprived of a voice of conscience, and many of us lamenting the departure of a trusted ally.
“He stood as a consummate statesman – reserved yet firm in conviction, astute yet humble in impact, brilliant yet kind at heart.
“As a distinguished legal luminary and political leader, Aketi’s profound wisdom and exemplary administrative excellence left an indelible mark across numerous pivotal roles.
“At every junction, his foresighted leadership delivered outstanding results that enhanced both institutional and human capital across board. For Aketi, it can be easily said that he came, he saw and he conquered.
“There is no doubt his demise leaves a gaping void in APC’s ranks. We are diminished by the loss of a man whose visionary role was pivotal to actualising our dreams for Nigeria.
“At this time of grief, I condole his beloved wife Betty, the children –Oluwarotimi (Jnr),Teniola, Yejide and Babajide– people of Ondo State, associates and friends for whom his passage represent a colossal loss.
“I urge them to take pride in the magnificent legacy left by this awesome soul. Aketi served Ondo State and his people till his final breath with unparalleled excellence, dedication and integrity. I pray God Almighty grants the family, Ondo State and Yorubaland the fortitude to bear this tragedy.”
