The governor who made this pledge in Ikare – Akoko during a Thanksgiving Service to commemorate the consecration of the Most Revd Gabriel Akinbiyi as the Archbishop of Ondo Ecclesiastical Province of the Anglican Communion, said he was aware of the hardship faced by motorists due to the terrible state of the road.
Akeredolu expressed concerns over the inability of the state to secure favourable consent from the Federal Government, in view of the ownership of the road and the unpreparedness of FG to reimburse the State of its eventual cost of fixing the road.
“l know the condition of the Owo-Ikare road. Today is the second time I will use the road in one week.
“I was here last week to inspect the Ajan and Aponkojiya bridges that were washed away by the flood which we are working on now and would soon be ready. Despite the fact that the Owo-Ikare road is a Federal road, we will intervene within weeks.”

He explained that his administration is presently providing life-changing infrastructures, including the remodelling of state-owned schools and upgrade of health facilities in Ikare Akoko and Akoko in general.
Akeredolu disclosed that the present administration swung into action immediately he was inaugurated as the Governor of the State to carry out reconstruction works on a bridge leading into the Ikare town and four other damaged bridges leading to other nearby communities.
The governor explained that part of the strategic plans of his administration is to ensure that Ikare joined other cities in the State to have a dual carriage road, which he said informed his decision on the ongoing construction of the dangerous Oke-Alabojuto hill in the town.
He said: “I’m not here to campaign. I’m here to serve God and rejoice with you. Everyone who knows me will attest to the fact that I don’t make promises that I cannot fulfil.”
Most Revd Akinbiyi, who succeeded Most Revd Dr Latunji Lasebikan commended Governor Akeredolu for the peace in the State and the developmental initiatives of his administration across the State.
