Akeredolu may submit names of 18 commissioner nominees to Assembly

THERE are indications that the long awaited list of commissioner nominees in Ondo state may be submitted this week to the state House of Assembly for consideration by state governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu.

Tribune Online learnt that the final list of the commissioner’s nominee had been screened by the state caucus of the party and ready to be submitted this week to the state House of Assembly.

It was gathered that the governor is proposing 18 nominees from each of the local government in the state to assist him in the administration of the state.

Akeredolu also confirmed during a book launch at the weekend that the list of his commissioners will be ready before the end of the month.

Akeredolu who was inaugurated as the sixth civilian governor of the state in February has been administering the state without commissioners in various ministries in the last three months.

The delay in the submission of the list of the commissioners was attributed to the initial crisis rocking the state House of Assembly at the twilight of the immediate past administration in the state.

But despite the intervention of governor Akeredolu in ending the crisis in the state House of Assembly, and the ruling party controlling the majority seats in the state Assembly, the governor has failed to present the list before the lawmakers.

However,  the Chief Press Secretary to the State governor, Mr Segun Ajiboye however said confirmed that the list of the commissioners will be released at the appropriate time and will presented before the State Assembly by the governor.

Ajiboye said “the governor is a meticulous person and will be careful in picking his commissioners and those that will work with him. I am sure the list will be out immediately Mr Governor is through with it and will be presented before the state House of Assembly.”

“The governor is one person who does not do things in half measures but I can assure you that within the next few weeks, the list will be ready”
