Akeredolu developing Ondo through industrialisation ― Commissioner

The investment drive of Ondo State Governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, in the last three years has started paying off, with the take-off of the Ondo Linyi Industrial hub.

The State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr Donald Ojogo, who disclosed this to Tribune Online said the industrial hub situated along Benin /Ore roadhouses has about six functioning factories.

Ojogo listed some of the factories to include paper mill, ethanol plant, Medium Density fibreboard, High-Density Fibre Board, Plywood and a Textile company among others.

He explained that the companies were strategically situated on the over 70 hectares land to share a boundary with Omotosho Power Plant in order to enjoy uninterrupted power supply.

Explaining the choice of Ore for the industrial park, he explained that apart from the Federal Government presence in the town through the Independent Power Plant (IPP), the town is also a destination town of many foreign and local investors because of the proximity to the Power which has been hindering the growth of many industries across the country.

He said the development was part of Akeredolu’s determination to change the narrative in the state by ensuring that a solid economic and industrial platform was laid.

Ojogo said: “The industrial hub, located in the commercial city of Ore, is now bubbling with various business activities, with lorries taking turns to deliver cassava for the use of the cassava to Ethanol plant. These lorries are from different parts of the country.

“This has now put a serious challenge on local farmers in the state to meet up with the company’s demand for cassava.

“The Ore Industrial Hub is one of many industrial breakthroughs Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has brought into the state.

“The challenge now rests on all of us to move together to a greater height of the more industrial revolution in the state.”

Apart from this, he said the Industrial hub has created over 1,200 jobs, with three other factories to be established in the area.
