Akeredolu accepts resignation of aides

Rotimi Akeredolu

ONDO State Governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, on Tuesday, accepted the resignation of the two aides, Hon Akopebi Lubi and Dr Benson Enikuomehin who tendered their resignation.

This was contained in a statement issued and signed by the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) Segun Ajiboye, who said the resignation of the aides is not unconnected with the political mood of the nation and everybody is free to join any political party or parties of their choice.

The aides who tendered their resignation, however, defected to the main opposition in the State, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Ajiboye however, said that the resignation of the Akpoebi and Enikuomehin would not affect the fortune of the party and said “it must be noted that the resignation and defection of the two former aides of the governor would not affect the chances of the President Muhammad Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Meanwhile, the Ondo state government has denied the report in some quarters that two members of the state executive council have resigned their appointment.

Ajiboye who described the report as false and misleading said the two aides were not members of the state executive.

According to him, “the two aides of the governor who resigned their appointment were not members of the state executive council.

“The two former aides, Dr Benson Enikuomehin and Lubi were Senior Special Assistant (SSA) and Special Assistant (SA) respectively.”

He, however, said: “Governor Akeredolu wishes the two success in their future endeavours.”
