Akarigbo sues for peace, religious tolerance

Published by

THE Akarigbo of Remoland, Oba Adewale Ajayi, has urged all religious groups in the kingdom to embrace harmony and peaceful coexistence.

The traditional ruler stated this while hosting Muslims from across Remoland at a Ramadan lecture/iftar with the theme “The Act of Coexistence in the Month of Ramadan and Thereafter,” held at his palace in Sagamu.

Oba Ajayi noted that development could only be achieved in an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity and called on adherents of the different faiths to respect one another’s beliefs.

He charged Muslims to sustain all the lessons learnt during Ramadan and not to go back to ways that displease Allah.

The monarch expressed gratitude to Allah for the successes so far recorded in Remoland since he ascended to the throne.

He cited the establishment of a passport issuing office by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) in Sagamu, the creation of a foundation for the development of Remo Kingdom and other notable achievements which he said were made possible through God’s benevolence.

He implored all well-meaning sons and daughters of Remo to contribute their quotas to developing the kingdom.

Oba Ajayi promised to hold regular interactions with all religious groups for continued peace in the area.

The guest lecturer, Imam Mikhail Adesanya, urged the audience to fear Allah and be good to others.

Adesanya, who is the Eketa Adinni of Remo Kingdom, urged Muslims to sustain the spiritual quality which they exhibited during Ramadan.

“My dear brothers and sisters in Islam, Ramadan has an end but your good deeds towards fellow human beings, irrespective of religious inclinations, must not stop. Those good deeds must continue. Please, let us strive to be good to our neighbours because there is a reward for our every single act, whether good or bad,” he added.
