The residents of Gbekuba, Apata area were overjoyed when the state government began repairs and tarring of many intra-state roads Ibadan, hoping that their area would not be left out.
However, it is sad to note that after many months of waiting, our prayers are yet to be answered, even as the roads from BCGA through Gbekuba, up Baptist High School, are in total disrepair with motorists and pedestrians alike, groaning under hardship faced every day plying the route.
As taxpayers, who also have representatives at state and federal level, we expected that our agitations for road repair would have reached fever pitch but alas, we daily pay through our noses in effort to maintain our cars and motorcycles.
The government of Governor Abiola Ajimobi has been a development- oriented one but for reasons unknown, our situation passed under the radar and we were neglected till date. With the oncoming rains, residents of the area are again near panic, knowing that a hellish season awaits them again. We are therefore, pleading, again, that the government comes to our aid and do something about the worsening state of roads around the BCGA, Gbekuba, Idi-ishin axis.
We know he listens and we have hope that these few days remaining, he can still put a smile on our faces like he’s doing in other areas.
