The governor said the two agencies had proven that focused partnership could be highly productive.

“I wish to commend NACA and OYSACA for their contribution which has brought the prevalence rate from 5 to 0.9 per cent in the state.

“Your effort has brought the HIV/AIDS prevalence rate to a controllable region, this is very commendable, ” he said.

Earlier, Mrs Ajimobi had thanked the governor for his `unflinching support’ which enabled the agency to achieve the reduction of HIV/AIDS prevalence rate in the state.

She said that the governor had continued to support OYSACA through budgetary allocation when the World Bank stopped providing grants.

“On May 29, I will be leaving office as chairman of OYSACA, I am pleased to announce that your support earned us the successes we have achieved.

“I am happy that in our time, the prevalence rate fell from 5 to 0.9 per cent, it is such a cheering development,” he said.

In her speech,  the Chairperson of  NACA, Pauline Tallen,  thanked the governor for hosting the 5th National Council on AIDS conference.

She said the governor had performed creditably in the health sector, adding  “our prayer is that your legacies in the health sector are sustained.”
