Ajibade ‘Milly’ Martins, condemns recent spate of attacks

Dubai-based, Nigerian born Ajibade ‘Milly’ Martins, has condemned the rising spate of attacks on security agents and facilities in the country.

He urged the federal government to increase funding to the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to enable them upgrade their equipment and devices.

Milly who spoke to our correspondent via a telephone chat a few days ago from his base in Dubai said it is sad to see that security agents and facilities have become targets of attacks in the southern parts of the country in recent times, with many police officers killed and stations vandalized and/or razed.

Ajibade, condemned the attacks and killing of policemen and the vandalising of police properties and other government facilities. He commended the police force for doing their best in the face of “daunting welfare and operational challenges” and called for adequate funding of the force to enhance its operational efficiency.

Milly pointed out that the police force is not the problem of Nigeria and should not be seen as the enemy.

“This is a very trying period in the life of our country, especially for the police force and other security agencies and it is only proper to show support and concern by joining voices to condemn these acts of aggression against law-abiding people doing their best to protect citizens of our country,” he said.

“I want to also use this opportunity to call for a cessation of all such attacks on police formations, officers and men that are going on in various parts of our country and to tell everybody that the police is your friend and not the enemy.

“Police officers and men are also fathers, mothers, uncles, aunts, brothers and sisters from all parts of Nigeria. Any country where the police are undermined and neglected, where the police are under funded, where police officers are not trained properly, and have no equipment to work with, where the police officers have low morale, cannot have security.

He commended the IG, his officers and men for trying their best in the face of adversity and very difficult circumstances. “The police is the only institution that has a presence in all our communities and yet they have in adequate policing equipment, their vehicles do not run, they do not even have vehicles, and where they do, they cannot fuel or maintain them properly” he said.

He praised the police for their unwavering resolve in the task of protecting lives and property in spite of the numerous challenges facing them.

Ajibade ‘Milly’ Martins also known as “Milly Hussle” is an artiste manager, producer, event/show promoter, entrepreneur and philanthropist.
