Ajeromi rerun: Adewale sues for peace, urges members to come out enmass

A chieftain of Lagos State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Otunba Segun Adewale popularly called Aeroland, has called on all members of the party to be united and ensure that the party eventually win the rerun poll for the House of Representatives seat in Ajeromi Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state.
Hon. Rita Orji is the candidate of the party, who is seeking a return to the Lower Chamber.
Adewale, who is laying claim to the chairmanship of the party, made the call in a statement made available to newsmen, even as he pleaded with those he described as faction of the party in the area and are aggrieved to jettison their anger for the sake of peace and interest of the party.
According to the PDP chieftain, returning Hon. Orji back to the House of Representatives should be a collective effort of all members, pleading that whatever the issues were, members should endeavour to “apply political solutions to them so that peace can reign in the local government.”
“The victory of Ajeromi will be a victory for PDP across the nation, the one seat in that local government is very important to national agenda of the party,” Otunba Adewale said.
He further appealed to party members to see themselves as one big family no matter the disagreements, contending that if those who were aggrieved decided to work against the party’s candidate, it would send wrong signals to innocent supporters and members of the public that the party was in disarray.
“Members should come out enmass to canvass for votes, man all the polling units where rerun will take place and those PDP’s votes must be adequately guarded to avoid electoral robbery by the APC,” he said.
“Those who are aggrieved should not burn the bridge now because they may still need to pass through that same bridge in the nearest future, but whatever they do now will affect them when they also need the party. No one reigns forever.
“The structure of the party must not be weaken to the advantage of those in the opposition or ruling party,” he added, assuring members that if PDP emerged eventually as many progress loving members of the party would wish, it would affect the party positively in the future elections as morale of members would be boosted.
