Ajayi Crowther University re-appoints Popoola as deputy vice chancellor

The Senate of Ajayi Crowther University on Tuesday unanimously ratified the re-appointment of Professor Olumuyiwa Popoola as deputy vice chancellor of the university for another two-year term.
This decision came following the presentation of Prof Popoola to the Senate by the Vice Chancellor, Prof Timothy Adebayo, who highlighted Prof Popoola’s exemplary performance during his previous tenure.
Although Popoola was unable to attend the meeting due to official duties, the vice chancellor expressed confidence in his abilities and contributions to the university over the past two years.
It will be recalled that Prof Popoola’s initial appointment as DVC was made on February 2, 2022, and subsequently ratified by the Senate on February 8, 2022, for a two-year tenure.
Adebayo said, “A few days ago, his tenure expired as the DVC and by the extant provision of this university, on appointment/renewal of the office of the DVC, I hereby present him to the Senate for a second term in office.
“After carefully evaluating his service to the university, I firmly believe that he merits a second term in office due to his exceptional efficiency and significant contributions to the university’s growth over the past two years. I humbly seek the Senate’s endorsement for his reappointment.”
After the Senate approved the appointment, the VC announced that the Governing Council of the university had approved construction of two hostels in response to the growing student population of the university.
