Ajani, South-West zonal director, bows out of NESREA

Staff of the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) SouthWest zonal office and state offices recently gathered to celebrate and send forth Mr Ismail Ajani, who recently retired as their zonal director.

Mr Ajani retired from on office on January 4, 2020, having attained the statutory retirement age of 60.

The former Southwest zonal director of NESREA joined the agency as one of the pioneer staff in 2007. He served as the Ekiti State coordinator from 2008 to 2015, and as Southwest zonal director from July 2015 until his retirement.

During his career at NESREA, Mr Ajani gained experience in compliance monitoring and enforcement, industrial ecology, forest resource management, biodiversity conservation and management, and environmental planning.

At the retirement ceremony which took place at the conference hall, Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria, Jericho, Ibadan, the acting zonal director of Southwest zone, Mr Elijah Udofia said that Mr Ajani, “during his years in service believed in collaboration and synergy in solving environmental challenges. The number and calibre of guest at this event is a testimony to the friendship that Mr Ajani has built and drawn to himself and the agency.”

Mr Ajani while thanking colleagues, friends and family for honouring him at the event said that although he was retiring, “I am not tired. As a core stakeholder in the environment sector, I will continue to look at issues in the environment and collaborate. I will play my own part. Nobody is immune from the negative effect of environmental violations.”
