Aisha Dukku, 119 others celebrate 100 years of women suffrage in Uk

THE member representing Dukku/Nafada Federal Constituency of Gombe State, Aisha Jibirin Dukku, has expressed her delight for the opportunity of joining several other women from different parts of the world in the United Kingdom for the celebration of 100 years of Women Suffrage.

While baring her mind on the celebration, Aisha Dukku, who led the Nigerian entourage to the UK, said that though women have come a long way, more needed to be done to uplift women to achieve their God-given potentials.

Aisha Jibrin Dukku also disclosed that over 120 women from 86 countries participated in the celebration adding that the celebration looked at the achievements of women and also discussed how to empower women in politics.

A politician and one of Aisha Dukku’s supporters, Yusuf Musa Danbayo, told our correspondent that her diligence and progressive acumen has not just been recognized by the good people of her constituency but a National and international recognition has been accorded to her.

According to him, this has not just brought her to the limelight but has also brought the good people of her constituency and Gombe State to limelight not just nationally but internationally.

He said: “This honour is well deserved. As a representative, she has touched the lives of her constituents in different ways. She has to her credit a host of women empowerment programmes, skill acquisition programmes, tree planting programmes, programmes aimed at rehabilitating and empowering prisoners amongst a host of other achievements.”
