Aisha Buhari donates foodstuff to 2,000 women in Daura

THE Wife of the President, Mrs Aisha Buhari, has donated assorted foodstuffs and other essential consumables to 2,000 women politicians in Daura preparatory to Ramadan fasting.

Mrs Buhari, who presented the items to the APC Zonal Woman Leader, Hajiya Habiba Abubakar in Daura on Tuesday, called on the beneficiaries to make wise use of the items.

According to her, the items donated are 400 bags of rice, 100 bags of sugar, 300 cartons of tomatoes paste and 500 packets of peak milk.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the president’s wife was represented by the wife of Katsina State Governor, Hajiya Zakiya Masari.

Mrs Buhari urged well -meaning Nigerians to render assistance towards ameliorating the untold hardship facing women living in rural areas.

She warned ward, local and the zonal women leaders against diverting the items, stressing that they must distribute them with equity.

Mrs Buhari reminded them that the items were handed over to them on trust, adding that whoever betrayed the trust would account for such misdeed before God.

Earlier, the acting Administrator of Daura Local Government, Alhaji Abdulkadir Mohammed thanked the wife of the president for the gesture.

He commended Mrs Buhari for initiating projects for the advancement of women, including the citing of a multimillion naira maternity and child care centre in Daura.

Mohammed also lauded the efforts of Gov Aminu Masari in the provision of infrastructure including roads, potable water and hospitals across the state.

Abubakar, the APC zonal woman leader, pledged to ensure equitable and judicious distribution of the items.

She described Mrs Buhari as “a mother who cares for the poor and the less privileged.”NAN reports that Mrs Buhari was in Daura a week ago, where she laid the foundation for the construction of an ultra-modern maternity and child care center to promote maternal and child health.
