IN the spirit of the yuletide season, leading telecoms operator, Airtel Nigeria, has partnered with UAC Restaurants, owners of the Mr Biggs brand, to feed 5,000 underprivileged Nigerians under its CSR initiative dubbed ‘Five Days of Love.
As part of the programme, Airtel and Mr. Biggs will spread love, joy and happiness of the season to communities in Nigeria by spending quality time and providing wholesome meals supplied by Mr. Biggs to over 5000 less privileged people.
The initiative, which kicked off on Tuesday, December 13, 2016, in Lagos, saw the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Airtel, Segun Ogunsanya, leading his colleagues to feed hundreds of people that stormed Rowe Park, Yaba, venue of the event.
The excited crowd poured encomiums on Airtel, expressing delight that the telco was able to come up with the gesture, despite the down times in the economy, at this period.
Speaking during the event, the Airtel CEO described the Christmas season as an ‘occasion for sharing and giving’, stating that Airtel, in celebration of the yuletide, is committed to spreading love, joy, and happiness across the communities where it operates
“Indeed, Airtel is passionate about uplifting and empowering Nigerians and we shall continue to create and support platforms that will make lives better for telecoms consumers.
“My colleagues in the North, South and West of Nigeria will also be hosting this same party, marking the theme of this campaign, Five Days of Love,” he said.
The Airtel Five Days of Love train would also visit Enugu, Ibadan and Abuja, targeting over 1,000 people in each state.
The Five Days of Love CSR initiative is part of Airtel’s Employee Volunteer Scheme (EVS), a platform created to assist underprivileged people.
