THE Manager of Akure Airport, Mrs Cecilia Oguama, has tasked the host communities of the airport on good patronage that can ensure it achieves its aims and objectives.
Oguama told the News Agency of Nigeria) NAN) on Wednesday in Akure that the airport’s management had started sensitisation programmes for the communities around the airport on what was expected of them.
“Akure and its environs are very fortunate to have this airport; they should patronize it and not allow it to die because it will bring growth and development to them.
“They should not fight but work to maintain it; for if it blossoms, it will attract industries, job opportunities and open up everywhere within its neighbourhood to the outside world.
“Everything will just shoot up; therefore, they should tap into its abundant opportunities,” she said.
The airport’s manager noted that the service of the airline plying Akure to Abuja route and vice versa had improved in recent times to three times per week.
Oguama said the airport’s management had been talking to other airlines that have either a30-seater aircraft or 48-seater aircraft to come and open up the Akure to Lagos route.
“If there is another airline flying the Akure to Lagos route, it will boost the airport’s operations,” she said.
