THE Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshall Sadique Abubakar, on Thursday in Abuja inaugurated two blocks of residential quarters to alleviate accommodation problems facing its personnel.
Sadique said that the project had become imperative and timely bearing in mind the accommodation deficit facing Nigerian Air Force personnel.
The CAS said that the two blocks of buildings were named after its two gallant officers who lost their lives sometime in 2013 while on international assignment in Mali.
Sadique said they died while carrying out national assignments to project the good image of the country.
He said such officers needed to be immortalised as they paid the supreme sacrifice to the nation and humanity.
“One of the buildings will be used to accommodate officers while the other one will be used as transit accommodation for officers,” he said.
Sadique expressed delight that the project was carried out through a direct labour.
He, therefore, commended the Chief of Works and Logistics/communications for the timely execution of the project.
The CAS said that the project would go a long way in reducing the accommodation challenges being experienced by personnel in NAF, especially in Abuja.
“While congratulating the beneficiaries of the accommodation, I also implored them to put it in good use.
“I assure you that we will continue to do all that is humanly possible to improve the accommodation of our personnel.
“We derive a lot of excitement when we see our personnel in accommodation such as this, and we are always happy to see our families and children playing in such good environment,” Sadique said.
The CAS also commended the Senate and the House committees on Air Force for their continuous support.
Sadique also commended President Muhammadu Buhari for all he had been doing to ensure that the service lived up to its expectations.
