AIG seeks support to combat crimes in Ondo

The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Williams Adebowale has called for synergy between the police and lawyers in the state, saying this will ensure peaceful and secure environment.

Adebowale who made this call during the courtesy visit of the Nigeria Bar Association, (NBA) Akure branch, to the AIG office said the police and lawyers should work together to complement each other efforts in reducing crime in society.

The AIG urged the lawyers not to see the police as their enemies but as friends that would complement each other efforts aimed at reducing crime in society to have crime crime-free environment.

The Police boss called on legal professionals led by the Chairman of the NBA Akure branch, Mr Banjo Ayenakin, to intensify their cooperation with the police in the fight against insecurity and promotion of public safety.

Adebowale who commended the association for the visit and the synergy established with the police, expressed his desire to work with the lawyers towards protecting lives and property.

He stressed the need for law enforcement and the legal profession to work together to achieve administration of justice.

The AIG pointed out that the police in the Zone had intensified efforts to address security issues plaguing its jurisdiction, promising to look into issues raised by the association and proffer prompt solutions.

While speaking, the NBA chairman, Mr Ayenakin commended the AIG for being professional in the discharge of his duties in the Zone.

He argued that law enforcement and legal profession work together to promote public safety and administer justice.

He also appreciated the AIG for giving them audience, adding that he was the first AIG in the Zone’s history to grant NBA an audience and seek their cooperation.

The NBA chairman also advised the police to shun intimidation of lawyers in the performance of their constitutional responsibilities, stressing that lawyers were ready to cooperate with the police.

He noted that lawyers and police were working toward the same goal of peaceful and secure society.

Ayenakin said that it would be better for both lawyers and police to cooperate and work together to rid society of criminals.
