The women wing of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Nigeria (Lajna Imaillah) has warned Muslims against enaging in vices that were ‘imported’ from the developed nations such as homosexuality and transgenderism, internet fraud.
The National Sadr (President) Lajna Imaillah Nigeria, Hajia Taofeeqah Fagbolade, said this while delivering her welcome address during the 44th Annual National Lajna Ijtema (conference) held in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State. The theme of the conference was “Religion and Gender Diversity: Exploring the Nexus.”
While lamenting that the society no longer understands the word ‘gender’, Fagbolade declared that religion “is being trampled upon with more ignorance about God.”
According to her, the developed nations are morally decadent and are “forcing” their ideologies on the developing nations.
She said: “The changes witnessed in societies today are impositions by their powerful nations. And, instead of strengthening the society, these changes are creating discordance.
“Name it, homosexuality and transgenderism, internet fraud and various other vices. The urge to amass wealth is on the rise without a decided plan of any productive activity to actualise it.”
She also explained that high rate of poverty, technological advancement and digital communication have made the world a truly global village and therefore “enabled the Western nations to not only flaunt their way of life, but also export same to developing countries thereby making youths restless and desperate in their desire to acquire the new way of living.”
Quoting the world leader of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Fagbolade noted that “worldliness and materialism is now rampant and most people now live a life of spiritual blindness.”
She said “it is mandatory that Muslims adopt the highest moral standard, and as members of the Jamaat of Promised Messiah (as), we must convey the message of true Islam to others.”
In the 11-point communique issued after the three day event, the conference recommended that every mother should be her children’s best friend and confidant, create time to listen to them and be their role model.
The conference also recommended that every home should be a school where the children learn Islamic values that shield them from bad companies and instill righteousness in them.
“The conference concluded that the progress of a nation is dependent upon women who are responsible for proper upbringing of their children in line with the true spirit of Islam,” the communique added.
