Agric journalists mourn death of former Chairman, Oba

The Agriculture Correspondents Association of Nigeria (ACAN) has announced the passing of its former Chairman, Mr. John Oba, who was described as one of the founding members of the association.

Until his death, Mr. Oba was a staff member of Blueprint Newspaper and served as the Chairman of ACAN from 2016 to 2023.

According to a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of ACAN, Juliana Agbo, “Mr. Oba was more than just an exceptional journalist; he was a dedicated Christian, an advocate for truth and justice, and committed to bringing important stories to light throughout his career.”

The statement further noted, “His legacy is one of journalistic excellence, unwavering integrity, and a steadfast commitment to serving the public good.”

“Beyond his role as an agriculture correspondent, Mr. Oba was a passionate farmer who believed that reporting on agriculture without firsthand farming experience was a missed opportunity.

“Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time. The loss of such a distinguished professional is profoundly felt by all of us at ACAN.”
