Business activities at the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) were shut down on Thursday as hundreds of aggrieved workers staged a protest over unpaid allowances.
The protesting workers most of who are senior officers blocked the major entrance leading to the commission thereby preventing customers and other staff from entering into their offices.
All entreaties by some top management team to avert the protest proved abortive as the aggrieved workers chanted various solidarity songs.
One of the senior management team who addressed the protesting workers dismissed reports of ongoing plans to recruit a CBN staff as a director.
He also assured that the board will at its ongoing meeting approve the appointment of qualified senior staff as a director in response to the agitation of the workers.
Meanwhile, after several consultations, the workers unanimously asked the executive members of the union to hold meeting with the board with a view to addressing various demands.
