Agbaje, Lagos PDP congratulate Sanwo-Olu

THE Governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Lagos State, Mr Jimi Agbaje, has congratulated his rival of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Babajide Sanwoolu, who has been declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the winner of Saturday’s elections.

According to a release made available to newsmen by the Director of Media and Publicity of Jimi Agbaje Campaign Organisation, Mr Felix Oboagwina, the PDP governorship candidate, Agbaje called Sanwoolu on the phone around 7.50pm after INEC announced the final result, wishing Sanwo-Olu well, while praying God to grant him the wisdom to steer the affairs of the state.

Also, Agbaje’s party, PDP, on Sunday sent it’s  congratulatory message to the APC governorship candidate, Sanwo-Olu, the declared winner of Saturday poll.

According to the Lagos PDP chapter, whose statement was signed by its spokesperson, Mr Taofik Gani, the congratulatory message is to exhibit a good spirit of sportsmanship and show respect for the laws of the land.

The PDP, however, said notwithstanding, “If for any reasons, it has reasons to challenge the result announced it shall not hesitate to so do.”

The party called on the governor-elect to eschew any iota of politics of retaliation, seclusion or vendetta, just as it also counselled him against going after his predecessor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, “unless it must be done for the development of the state because Lagosians will not accept any excuse for any failure in governance as a result of self-inflicted distraction.”

“Go hit the ground working. Get all competent hands, irrespective of party affiliation, so that all hands can be on deck to move Lagos State forward as it really should be,” PDP said.
