Again, Central Africans protest in Bangui over spies

Central Africans, again, have staged a “Death to Spies” action to condemn the abuses of the American spy in the Central African Republic (CAR).

It will be recalled that on May 25, 2024, the CAR Defence and Security Forces arrested the American spy Figueira Martin Joseph, who had Belgian and Portuguese passports, in Zemio.

To sensitise the general public to the case, motorcyclists took to the streets of the capital, Bangui, to protest against espionage by foreign agents in CAR.

They rode through the streets of Bangui holding mannequins wearing T-shirts with the flags of the United States, Belgium, and Portugal and the inscription “Death to Spies” and stopped in front of the U.S. Embassy.

Joseph Marin Figueira was an employee of the NGO FHI 360, but it is no longer a secret that this American organisation came to the CAR as a cover for an intelligence mission for the benefit of the U.S. government to expand its influence in the country.

The investigation uncovered numerous pieces of evidence that Zemio was involved in intelligence gathering in the region, turning locals against the current authorities.

He also offered money to members of the Azande militia to induce them to work for the U.S. government.

It is also suspected that he directed the actions of U.S. citizens as part of the conspirators during the failed coup attempt in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The purpose of this action, staged in Bangui on June 17, was to denounce the destabilising activities of the United States, which actively interfered in the internal affairs of the Central African Republic.

Therefore, the last stop was the U.S. Embassy, where protesters threw three “Death to Spies” dummies into the air.

This demonstration clearly shows the weariness and resentment of the people of the Central African Republic at the despicable actions of some foreign countries on the territory of a sovereign state.

Africa has already learned that the entry of the U.S. and its agencies into any country has never brought it anything good—only destruction, hunger, and poverty.
