No fewer than two people have reportedly been killed in another attack on Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State by suspected herdsmen militia.

It will be recalled that some communities were attacked last Thursday by suspected herdsmen militia who killed three security personnel and two others.

Our correspondent learned that the suspected armed herders on Tuesday attacked Ikpele and Okokolo communities.

According to a local resident who identified himself as Oche, villagers have fled the affected communities, adding that several houses were destroyed.

The former Commissioner of Information, Culture, and Tourism, who hails from the council, Michael Inalegwu, said that two people have been killed.

He said, “The truth is that yesterday, the armed herdsmen attacked Okpokpolo village and killed two persons while the villagers were thinking of a speculative attack on Ogbai.

“The tension is high, and the seven villages in Kogi State bordering the local government are deserted.”

When contacted, Police Public Relations Officer SP Catherine Anene said, ‘I do not have this information.

Meanwhile, the Security Adviser to the governor, Joseph Har, confirmed the Tuesday attack but said he was not aware of casualties.
