ADP alleges manipulation of Kwara LG

ACTION Democratic Party (ADP) has rejected the outcome of last Saturday local government elections conducted in Kwara State.

Addressing journalists on Tuesday in Abuja, national chairman of the party, Yabaji Sani claimed the process was hijacked by the ruling All Progressives Congress in Kwara State in connivance with the State Electoral Commission.

The ADP chairman advocated that condemned henceforth, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) should take over the conduct of Local Government election, as he accused sitting governors of heinous “electoral fraud.”

The party also faulted the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, Governor Abdulfatai Hammed and Minister of Information Lai Mohammed among other APC leaders for their failure to check alleged excesses of APC supporters.

Sani further claimed that his party actually won one of the local government but was robbed by the ruling party in the state.

He said: “INEC should take over because we have learned nothing. The change APC promised is nothing and this is a shame that the state governors who are custodians of the law cannot guarantee peaceful election. So, INEC should take over.

“Though we did not have any physical evidence against the likes of Senate President, the governor and the Minister of Information they have moral duties to ensure that we did not experience such open brazen, such as buying vote and killing we experienced in Kwara state on Saturday.

“We have come to alert Nigerians that our chairmanship mandate in Edu Local Government of Kwara State has been stolen by APC Government with the blood of three young men on their hands. We want to reclaim our mandate, we want those who killed the young men to be brought to justice and our Chairmanship Candidate in the election, Muhammad Abubakar Muhammad is declared the winner.

“We are sad, very sad that APC, a Party that came into being as a result  of  what it described as decadence and moral deficiency in our polity, promising a change for the better has remained champions in corrupt practices, killings and has not only been found wanting in financial integrity at some high quarters, but has also displayed worrisome recklessness in pursuit of political tentacles and ambitions it has also not shown any remorse for its protectionism ideology for their own with soiled fingers.”
