Ado Metro Lions Club donates materials to pupils

Published by

The Ado-Ekiti Metropolitan Lions’ Club, Ado-Ekiti District 404B2, Nigeria, has donated various items to two schools in its “Back to School Initiative for Youth Empowerment.”

The beneficiary schools, Ado Community Grammar School Nursery and Primary School and Ado Community Grammar School, received educational aids such as writing materials, mathematical sets, exercise books and others.

The president of the club, who is also the proprietor of De-Jewels Apartments, Ado Ekiti, Lion Oyedeji Olajubu, who led the club members to make the donation, advised the pupils and students to imbibe the spirit of giving and sacrifice.

Olajubu stated that the gesture was to express their love ands share with others, adding that “love is  essential; without love, it would be difficult to share or give to others.”

According to him, “the Lions  Club is committed to service. We are not saying that you are poor, we just want to contribute to your educational pursuit. We don’t have to be rich before we give to others. I encourage you to be part of the club by becoming Alpha Leos. There are three Ts that are required of you to be a lion: Time, Talent and Treasure. If you are ready to sacrifice these three, you are qualified to be a lion.

“The Junior Lions Club, called Alpha Leo Club, is organised in junior schools to help students who are not from rich homes. Don’t look at what we brought, but at yourselves and be willing to serve. Tell others that service is the greatest thing to do, and it takes true love to serve. Ensure that you also share what we are giving you with your friends.”

Speaking about other humanitarian services the club has planned for Ekiti people, Olajubu said: “ We will be building a three-room hall for a nursery and primary school in Ado -Ekiti. One of the rooms will be for library while the other two will be the extension of their classrooms. We are also going to assist a pupil, who is visually impaired. His name is Salau Tijani.”
