Adeyemo’s death, greatest loss to Oyo APC govt ―Ajimobi

The late Oyo Speaker, Hon Michael Adeyemo

Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has regarded Friday’s death of Speaker of the House of Assembly, Honourable Michael Adeyemo as the greatest loss of the All Progressives Congress (APC) led government in the state.

This Ajimobi penned down in the condolence register opened at Adeyemo’s family house in Lanlate, Ibarapa North East Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of the state, when he visited on Saturday.

Prior to signing the condolence register, Ajimobi, accompanied by his wife, Florence and members of the state executive council and All Progressives Congress (APC), consoled the mourning parents of the late Adeyemo, Mr Ayoola Adeyemo and Mrs Olansebe Adeyemo and other family members.

“Adesina Michael Adeyemo’s demise is the greatest loss of the APC’s government/ administration. He was a brilliant, eloquent, intelligent, diligent and most patriotic Speaker I ever met.

“He contributed immensely to the success of this administration. He is a peacemaker, bridge builder and great son of Lanlate,” Ajimobi wrote.

Speaking at the Adeyemo’s residence, Chairman, Ibarapa North East LCDA, Mr Fatai Ajadi, urged the Ajimobi led government not to forsake the family, especially noting that Adeyemo left behind three young children.

In the same vein, a community leader, Mr Samson Aderonmu, who spoke on behalf of Adeyemo’s family, said Lanlate residents were still in shock over the news of Adeyemo’s death.

“The town, Lanlate, went quiet on confirming that the news of Michael Adeyemo’s death was true. We are in shock; the town is weeping. We never thought of his death in many years to come,” Aderonmu said.

The Onilala of Lanlate, Oba Olawuyi Olagoke, upon Ajimobi’s condolence visit, prayed that Adeyemo’s death should not mark the end of the state government’s focus on the development of Lanlate and the entire Ibarapa land.

While noting the strides of the state government in Ibarapa land in granting autonomy to her tertiary institutions, the creation of local council development areas, Oba Olagoke called for attention to Lanlate’s desire for beaded crowns.

Olagoke, who had the Osi Lanlate, Chief Adegboye Adelani, speak on his behalf, tasked the deputy Speaker and other members of the state House of Assembly, to maintain a peaceful Assembly, as the late Speaker craved for.

Ajimobi and his delegation also visited the palace of the Eleruwa of Eruwa, Oba Samuel Adegbola, where Oba Adegbola said what he found most disheartening was that Adeyemo left-behind parents who had not become aged.

“He was with me last Saturday to sympathise with me on the loss of Chief Fagbohun and was with me for a long time and so relaxed. I never knew he was biding me farewell.

“We are pained at the news but death is inevitable and could happen to the young or old. We appreciate the honour granted Lanlate to produce a Speaker.

“His death is a great loss not only to Lanlate, Ibarapa land but also to Oyo state and Nigeria as a whole. He conducted the Assembly such that there was no crisis and ensured good rapport between the legislature and the executive.

“What we are so pained about is that he left behind his parents who had not become aged. But, God knows best and we are confident that despite the loss of Adeyemo, this administration will not forget Lanlate and Ibarapa land at large,” Oba Adegbola said.
