Of Adeleke, Osun by-election

Providence and posterity are forces which people, whether of noble or humble background, often ignore. We often refer to them as superstitions aimed at playing down the can-do spirit of men, especially men of high calibre.
But time, events, and history have often given credence and honour to providence and posterity, the dreads of the men in power.
The life and times of Chief Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke, which even his most cynical critics would describe as peaceful and civil, provides food for thought for today’s politicians whose aspirations often becloud the relevance of humanity in governance.
Adeleke’s politics eschewed brigandage and violence even at the height of provocation. His mien depicted a man of reason and capacity. Throughout his foray into politics, he made the political points of relevance, experience and a tested brand. The Adeleke phenomenon, a bridge of consensus across divides, a choice bride for all political grooms, has again been affirmed.
Because of the magnanimity of providence to just causes, Adeleke has proven to be stronger in death. Is this not the strength in the time-tested efficacy of the forces of providence and posterity?
Despite the obvious heat from the national and state caucuses of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), brewing an unending, unprecedented war, Adeleke’s soul, resting in perfect peace yet strong and vibrant, healed the wounds that had defied all the drugs of conflict resolution, to the chagrin and amazement of political and apolitical pundits home and abroad.
Also helping to seal the deal was the support from the PDP leader in Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, who gave his blessings and support. All should hail his magnanimity.
As the die was cast on Saturday, July 8 by-election, Adeleke’s gentle soul was rewarded by the just benevolence of the votes of the Osun West Senatorial District.
PDP won in all the local governments except one. There were massive votes in favour of Dr Ademola Adeleke, the younger brother of the deceased senator who has promised to increase the tempo of service and hold the banner of benevolence which his brother represented aloft.
Leaders must serve with the fear of God, remembering the fact that power belongs to and comes directly from God. Providence and posterity are the weapons that God uses to answer questions that man can never answer. The death of a man is not the death of his dreams and aspirations. Isiaka Adeleke lives on.
Dr. Ademola Adeleke, the new Serubawon in town, it is my strong belief that you will lift the banner of service higher than where your brother left it.
