Meet Adebiyi Mariam, the visionary mind behind Mariam Collectionzz, a brand that has not only made waves in the fashion industry but also contributed significantly to employment opportunities in Nigeria in the world of entrepreneurship.
Mariam Collectionzz had its humble beginnings in 2013, primarily focusing on ready-to-wear clothing and hijabs. What started as a passion project during Mariam’s time in school continued to evolve. After graduating with a BSc in Biochemistry in 2016, Mariam embarked on a journey to Dubai in search of capital and reliable sources for clothing.
During her time in Dubai in 2017, she worked tirelessly for three months, determined to invest in her vision. She later shifted her focus to selling abayas and other products online. However, Mariam’s heart was always in Nigeria, and 2021, she decided to return home.
Mariam Collectionzz had by then earned a sterling reputation for offering quality services and products globally. It had also become a beacon of hope for job seekers, employing over 30 staff members in Nigeria and abroad.
Mariam displayed remarkable academic prowess, earning double promotion in primary school and gaining admission to higher education at just 17 after completing secondary school at age 16.
Mariam’s list of achievements is impressive. Not only did she graduate with her desired grade, but she is also thrilled to be an employer of labour, providing better-than-average wages to her over 30 workers.
Currently, her focus is on positioning Mariam Collectionzz as a premier global clothing brand, known for reliable, quality, and fashionable clothing. She aims to achieve this through world-class customer service and efficient resource management, ensuring her brand competes effectively with other clothing outfits worldwide.
The entrepreneurial journey is never without challenges, and Mariam has faced her share. Economic hardships due to subsidy removal and Naira devaluation, increased procurement costs, delays from suppliers, high exchange rates, transportation issues, and competition from sellers of substandard products have all tested her resilience.
Mariam’s current goals are ambitious. She envisions Mariam Collectionzz as a leading global fashion brand, and she’s committed to achieving this by providing high-quality products to her esteemed customers and creating more employment opportunities in Nigeria.
She’s also planning to showcase her products at an international trade fair, a testament to her determination and ambition.
For aspiring professionals in her field, Mariam has some valuable advice: “Avoid competition and imitation. Be unique, hardworking, and focused. Resist external pressures, then back it up with prayers to God, and success will follow.” She started with a pre-order system and now manages three more thriving businesses, proving that contentment and resilience are the keys to a fulfilling life.
In conclusion, Mariam’s story is a testament to the power of determination, passion, and hard work. Her journey from a young entrepreneur to a global business force is an inspiration to us all. As she puts it, “When I fall, I pick myself up again because I am resilient; quitting is not an option.”
