Adebanjo, Clark: ‘Nigeria has lost invaluable contributions of patriots’ — APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in separate statements on Wednesday expressed grief over the death of elder statesmen, Chief Ayo Adebanjo and Edwin Clark.

The leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, died last Friday while the leader of Pan-Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), Pa Edwin Clark died on Tuesday.

National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Barrister Felix Morka described Pa Adebanjo as “an accomplished journalist, lawyer, nationalist and politician.

“As a major player in the Nigerian political space, his influence and relevance were cherished both at regional and national levels for over seven decades.

“A core Awoist, he was famed for his relentless advocacy for true federalism and progressivism. His role, alongside other patriots, in sustaining the struggle to enthrone democracy in the country remains legendary. “

The statement noted that the ” nation has lost an irreplaceable patriot whose invaluable contributions to shaping our country’s socio-political landscape will remain indelible.

“Our great party extends its condolences to the family of the late Pa Ayo Adebanjo, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Yoruba nation and the government and people of Ogun State over the painful exit of such an iconic personality.

“May his soul rest in peace. Amen.”

On late Pa Clark, the APC described the former Federal Information Commissioner as a cerebral activist and patriot, who was a leading advocate for the socio-economic emancipation and respect for human environmental rights of the people of South-South, especially the oil-rich Niger Delta region.

“For a man of towering legacies and remarkable contributions to nation-building, Pa Clark’s death creates a yawning void that will be difficult to fill. He will be sorely missed.

“We extend our condolences to his immediate family, friends, the Ijaw nation and the government and good people of Delta state over this colossal loss. We pray for succour for all at this difficult time.”
