Addressing Economic Crisis: Advice to President Bola Tinubu

Published by

Dear President Tinubu,

As a concerned citizen deeply invested in the prosperity of our nation, I feel compelled to offer my opinion and advice on how we can effectively tackle the ongoing economic crisis. It is imperative that decisive actions are taken to alleviate the burden on our people and steer our economy towards stability and growth.

First and foremost, I urge you to consider cancelling all local transactions conducted in dollars. This measure would help mitigate the reliance on foreign currency and stabilize our local currency, thereby fostering economic resilience.

Additionally, the closure of the black market is essential to curb illicit financial activities and ensure the integrity of our financial system. Such a move would promote transparency and bolster investor confidence in our economy.

Furthermore, I implore you to address the issue of governors converting their security votes allowance to dollars. This practice not only undermines the strength of our currency but also hampers efforts to stimulate domestic economic activity. Measures should be put in place to discourage this detrimental behaviour and promote accountability in governance.

Moreover, the establishment of a commodities price control agency under the presidency is crucial to regulate market dynamics and prevent exploitative practices. This agency should operate with efficiency and transparency, unlike the Voiceless National Orientation Agency, to effectively safeguard the interests of consumers and producers alike.

While infrastructural development is important, I believe our immediate focus should be on meeting the basic needs of the Nigerian people. Rather than extravagant projects, priority should be given to initiatives that address food security, education, reliable electricity supply, and national security.

Ultimately, the key to securing reelection lies in our ability to improve the quality of life for all Nigerians. By prioritizing the welfare of the common man and implementing tangible solutions to address their needs, we can garner widespread support and pave the way for a brighter future for our nation.

Thank you for considering these recommendations. I remain hopeful that together, we can overcome the challenges facing our beloved country and usher in an era of prosperity for all.

Sincerely,
Yakubu Atanda Adedeji
