The Oyo State Caretaker Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dr Femi Majekodunmi, has said that the party would win elective positions in different offices across the country, in the forthcoming general elections.
The Ogun State-born politician stated this over the weekend while addressing the press of his intention to contest for the senatorial seat in the National Assembly to represent Ogun West, at his residence in Abeokuta.
The medical doctor cum politician noted that the mobilisation drive of the party at the grassroot level has been overwhelming, submitting that members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are joining the party every day.
Majekodunmi, a two-time governorship aspirant in Ogun, explained that the party is not for money bags politicians, but a party of the people who desired a positive change.
“With the support of Nigerians, this party will surely win elective positions across the country. The party is the fastest growing one in the country. It is a strong party here in Ogun State.  I have no doubt that the party will produce the next governor of the State, all the three senators and likewise other elective positions,” he added.
He explained that Ogun West Senatorial District since 1999 lacked quality representation in terms of dividends of democracy while promising to collaborate with the government of the State from June 2019 to make a difference.
Majekodunmi also called for the total restructuring of the National Assembly and reorientation of its members, saying that the country’s system in all ramifications is heavily corrupt.
He lamented that the nation’s lawmakers are the highest paid around the world, therefore, called for the reduction in allowances of the lawmakers in the interest of Nigerians.
He said,  “There’s need to re-orientate the National Assembly members. It is a common knowledge that salaries and allowances of legislators of the lawmakers are the highest in the world.
“There must be an end to the National Assembly legislating and grabbing a big bunch of the wealth of this country for themselves to the detriment of the people.  There is, therefore, the need for a new era in legislation. Hence, I see my entry into the senatorial race as a Dawn of a new era. “
