ADC members dump party for PDP in Ibadan southwest

Published by

The entire members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ibadan South-West local government area of Oyo State on Wednesday dumped the party and joined the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The defectors were led into the party by a former commissioner in the state, Hon Asimiyu Ado.

Receiving the new members at the local government meeting of the PDP held at the premises of the United Missionary College (UMC), the state chairman of the party, Alhaji Kunmi Mustapha, noted that the Lamidi Adidibu political family in the state was being solidified.

He expressed delight that many of the disciples of the strongman of Ibadan politics that had left the party were returning.

The PDP chairman added that the remaining members of the family that were still outside the PDP should return to enable it to present a formidable front in Ibadan southwest in particular and Oyo state at large.

Mustapha said the PDP remained the party to beat in the state as the governor, Mr Seyi Makinde, had raised the bar of governance and become a reference point for other states.

The chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr Nureni Adeniran, said the coming of the ADC members was a homecoming.

Adeniran, who had left the PDP for ADC and now back in PDP  said, “ADC is not our home we just branched there when there was a little misunderstanding but we are very sure that there will be no more break away from the PDP.

“We should see ourselves as one because our governor is a worthy one. We have started work towards 2023, there is going to be an improvement in our performance with the coming together of all former member.

He, however, pleaded with members to be patient with the goverment and governor, promising that all will benefit from the party and be carried along in decision making.

The leader of the new PDP members also noted that they were all members of the PDP but had to leave when there was a little crisis.

Ado explained that members of the ADC during the last general election worked for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Makinde, urging those they met when they returned to the PDP to see them as one.
