ADC initiates massive youth empowerment package–Nwosu

Published by

National  chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Chief Ralph Nwosu has said the party has begun the implementation of a massive multifaceted plan to empower Nigerian youths.

The plan, according to him, is under ADC’s global campus empowerment programme designed to promote leadership fellowship, training, and multidisciplinary skills acquisition initiatives in information technology, agriculture-related businesses, fishery, animal husbandry, textiles and cooperative ventures.

Nwosu unveiled the package, on Wednesday, when he received ADC candidate for the November 11 Kogi governorship election, Honourable Leke Abejide and some party stakeholders at the ADC Global campus in Abuja.

A statement by the publicity secretary of the party, Mr Mabel Oboh, quoted the national chairman as saying the pilot projects and funding schemes were already in progress.

Nwosu noted that Dr Mani Ahmad, a famous educationist and his team, had designed a robust ICT and innovative education programme.

He explained that the projects would ensure that the initiatives become not only successful in tackling unemployment and poverty, but also constitute the real to change the dynamics and culture of politics, party membership, management, and leadership.

“Re-skilling for all and innovation and entrepreneurship not minding the background should be the path to the new Nigeria that we seek,” he maintained.

He said skills acquisition workshops would be hosted across the nation for party members and the general public, stressing: “We see this as an important step to take as part of our contribution to empower our youths which will impact the growth of the country’s economy.

“ADC DNA encourages self-growth, contributions from organisations to the growth of our economy, and not relying on the government alone.”

Nwosu promised that the participants would acquire improved strategic planning abilities, crisis management capabilities, and better decision-making abilities which would benefit them in all endeavours.

Meanwhile, the ADC has said that a former presidential aspirant of the party, Dr. Chukwuka Monye, will sponsor an ADC Agricultural Community Impact Competition where three farmers from three different local government areas will be provided with seed capital for farming in the pilot programme.

It added that the farmers would be evaluated after three months and the winner among them will get additional funding.

The statement by Oboh quoted Monye to have said that he believed strongly that party faithful need to be change agents and should be responsible to their communities.

He noted that ADC governorship candidate, who has for years maintained his scholarship programme and payment of WAEC fees for students his Yagba federal constituency, would unfold his roadmap for making Kogi the Confluence hub of the nation.

Oboh stated that the impact of the ADC global campus empowerment programme would be felt in all the states, local government, and wards, as the stakeholders in the party “are collaborating with critical stakeholders within and outside the party to create the largest youth empowerment pool in Africa to inspire growth, development, and the great African renaissance.
