Lawyers have been urged to ensure that their practice aligns with 21st-century developments, as the legal profession has become increasingly digital and technologically driven.
The Delta State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Ekemejero Ohwovoriole, SAN, stated this in Asaba when members of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Women Forum, Ogwashi-Uku Chapter, paid him a courtesy visit at his office.
Represented by the Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Justice, Mr Omamuzo Erebe, the Attorney-General also enjoined lawyers to always be diligent in their practice to excel.
Ohwovoriole noted that the era of a one-man chamber had gradually faded, emphasising that diligence should be the hallmark of any legal practitioner, whether in government or private practice.
He reiterated the Ministry’s determination to involve all stakeholders, particularly all NBA branches in the state, in its activities. He added that the women lawyers in the Ministry of Justice were good ambassadors of the Forum, as they had been discharging their duties creditably.
Earlier, the facilitator of the NBA Women Forum, Ogwashi-Uku Chapter, Mrs I. E. Ochei, informed the Attorney-General that they were visiting to introduce themselves and to seek the Ministry’s support for their planned events for the year.
Mrs Ochei commended the Attorney-General and the leadership of the Ministry for their dedication to their responsibilities.
She also took the opportunity to invite both the Attorney-General and the Solicitor-General as guests at their forthcoming International Women’s Day celebration, scheduled for 14 March.
The visit concluded with the presentation of plaques to both the Attorney-General and the Solicitor-General.
