Phase 1 of the project which is also called RAMP 1 was implemented as pilots in Kaduna and Cross River states. The RAMP, financed by the World Bank Group will provide a total of about 427km of rural roads and about 132 river crossings completed.
Cross River State RAMP, financed by the African Development Bank (AfDB), will provide a total of about 350km of rural roads completed to asphalt surface finishing.
The major objective of RAMP is to improve transport conditions and bring sustained access to the rural population through rehabilitating and maintaining key rural transport infrastructure in a sustainable manner in selected Nigerian states, the Nigerian Tribune learnt.
In RAMP 2, about 500km of rural roads and 16 number of river crossings are targeted for construction/Rehabilitation in each of the selected states, just as it is being implemented in two tranches.
