Adamawa govt revives teacher training colleges

Adamawa Government has re-introduced teacher training college as part of measures to improve quality of primary school teachers and education in the State.

The Executive Secretary of the state’s Post Primary School Management Education Board, Alhaji Adamu Danjuma, made this known during interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), in Yola Wednesday.

Danjuma said the re-introduction of teacher training colleges (Grade 11) followed the declaration of state of emergency on education by the state government and the need for proper foundation for teachers.

Danjuma said two of the teachers college had been established in Mubi and Numan.

“Following the declaration of state of emergency on education by the state government, two teachers colleges Grade II were established.

“The development is to restore the glory of education and help train young students who will become qualified teachers of tomorrow’’, Danjuma said.

He observed that one of the major problems threatening education in the state was shortage of teachers, especially of science courses.

He said government was making effort to establish more colleges for teachers to enable it to tackle the shortage of teachers and get qualified ones.
