Adamawa dep gov, two journalists, 23 others bag traditional titles

ADAMAWA State deputy governor, Prof Kaletapwa Farauta, was among the 26 illustrious sons and daughters from Adamawa State that were conferred with various traditional titles in Demsa town, Adamawa State.

The event had in attendance sons, daughters and friends of Batta kingdom to celebrate the end of year and conferment of titles on deserving persons that have contributed to the development of the community, state and the country at large.

The deputy governor of Adamawa State, Professor Kaletapwa George Farauta, was conferred with the title of Rutu Batta. The immediate past president of Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Ms. LadiBala, and Nyisom Tafisu Swade of the News Agency of Nigeria, Taraba, were conferred with the titles of Nzubyalata Hama Batta and NzomtuBatta respectively.

Also honoured is the son of Governor Ahamdu Finitri, Alhaji Hamidu Ahmadu Umar Fintiri who turbaned as title holders in Batta kingdom yesterday.

Other title recipients include Alhaji Adamu Atiku Abubakar, Commissioner for Works and Housing Development, who is son of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in 2023 general elections, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

Governor Ahamdu Finitri who was represented at the ceremony by the deputy governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta enjoined the new traditional title holders to encourage people to key into dry season farming to improve food security of the state.

She urged parents to send their children to school to justify government investment in education sector as holiday ends soon.

“I call on the new title holders to use their positions to encourage people into dry season farming. People should save their farm harvest to avoid food scarcity in the state,”

The paramount ruler of the kingdom, HomunAlhamdu Gladstone Teneke, the Hama Bata, said the involvement of more youths for the titles is deliberate to raise responsible generation of young men and women to take the mantle of leadership now and in the future.

“We know that our value as a people is fast fading out due to the influence of foreign culture and traditions. We need to be careful in drawing our youths in promoting our culture.

“I strongly charge the new title holders to imbibe the culture of transparency and respect for elders,”

Others who received the new titles include Chief Joel HammanjodaMadaki, NzomurokakeBwatiye, and SenIya Abbas who was conferred with the title of TurmoBatta.
