AD suspends party leadership in Oyo, Osun, Ogun, Edo, Akwa-Ibom, Anambra States

THE National Working Committee (NWC) of the Alliance for Democracy (AD), on Wednesday, suspended its party leadership in six states, namely Oyo, Osun, Ogun, Edo, as well as Akwa-Ibom and Anambra.

It also disclosed that it was not considering a merger with any political party ahead of 2019 general elections, pointing out, however, that its doors are widely opened to any politician or political party to join it before the 2019 elections.

The National Chairman of the party, Chief Joseph Avazi, who read the communiqué after the NWC’s meeting in Abuja, said the NWC had approved the caretaker committee for Oyo and Osun State, respectively, while the announcement for other states would be relayed to the public soon.

He said the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party should be held on May 17, 2018, and that the party cards and membership registers be issued for members across the country, while members and stakeholders should endeavour to contribute to the finances of the party.

According to the communiqué: “The NWC recommended that all the states without proper congress are dissolved and the state chapters are re-organized and ensure structures in all wards of the federation.

“That the current Executives of Oyo, Osun, Ogun, Edo, Akwa-Ibom and Anambra be dissolved immediately. That a committee is set up to facilitate the inauguration of the Board of Trustee.

“The NWC strongly recommended that the Presidency, Ministry of Foreign Affairs to ensure the safety of all Nigerians anywhere in the world.

“Also, the NWC sympathizes with the government and people of Benue and Taraba States on the incessant killings and calling on the security agencies to be up to the task of securing the nation.” The communiqué read by the National Chairman added.
