May30 protest: Activists urge Kanu, IPOB to respect bail conditions

FOLLOWING the satisfaction of bail conditions and eventual release of the IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, activists have urged that he respects the bail conditions and respect the rule of law in putting forward their demands.

An Abuja based human Rights and lawyer, Osuagwu Ugochukwu, advised the IPOB leader to respect the bail conditions given him by the court while commending the Federal Government for obeying court orders on Kanu’s bail.

He admonished Kanu to maintain peace and urged Igbo leaders to focus their energy in liasing with the government to look into Igbo Marginalisation with a view to address the imbalance in the South East.

“There is no point agitating for separation since the issue of restructuring is achievable with all parties working together,” Osuagwu said.

He warned IPOB not to shut down South East on May 30 as planned by blocking motorists from moving as this will amount to felony and an affront to the Federal Government.

“If France and UK have distanced themselves from Biafra agitation then there is no benefit to be derived in the continuous Biafra Agitation rather South East should be fighting for equitable distribution of development not dismemberment,” he said, adding that  Kanu shouldn’t be deceived by IPOB EXCOs to violate his bail condition.

Also speaking, Emeka Ozoani, stated that there is nothing to be gained in disobeying the court, adding that there are ways of putting ones demands forward without flouting the rules.

According to him, peace is beneficial to everyone and should not be jeopardised by anyone.

“We all have a lot to lose when there is violence or instability. We should follow the rule of law in whatever we do and not get carried away to flout laid down rules and conventions,” Ozoani stated.
