Acting is side hustle for me ― Sarah Martins

Published by

Nollywood actress, Chukwukere Sarah Ujunwa popularly known as Hon Sarah Martins or simply Sarah Martins recently opened up on her life as an actress, the beginning and what acting really means to her. While she might have established herself as a notable face in the industry, the actress remarked that she has other things in her kitty to keep body and soul together.

According to her a chat with our reporter, the curvy diva says, “Acting is not paying my bills. I’ve always been a very hardworking entrepreneur with many streams of income. I have a body contour spa, I manufacture waist trainers, I produce body enhancement products, and I produce sex enhancement products. Let’s just say, acting is my side hustle.”

Sarah Martins also reveals why she went into the body enhancement business, saying nothing kills a woman more than bad self-esteem and saying she’s in total support of women doing anything necessary to augment or enhance their natural body.

“Sugar is their body! Nothing kills women more than low self-esteem! If getting your body done will give you the confidence you need as a woman to grow and win, then go ahead and do it! I have a beautiful and perfect body as a body magic Aesthetician but if there’s a need in the future to consider plastic surgery I will gladly jump on it,” she says.

Sarah Martins has come a long way in the movie industry even though she agrees that she didn’t have the best of beginnings. According to her, she would probably have chickened not if not for her colleague, Judy Austin who led her by the hand and showed her the ropes.

“My first movie role wasn’t a very good experience and it wasn’t even encouraging at all. I became more interested in movies and became more passionate about it when I met Judy Austin and working with her has been a blessing in my career,” she said.

“I see Judy Austin as my mentor because of how she has impacted in my career, how she accommodates people with love and respect, how she loves hard, how she appreciates little things, how she’s dedicated to her job and how she interprets her roles. I don’t care about how the world sees her but to me, she’s the best human I have ever come across and that’s why I love her so much,” she added.

Speaking about the movie industry, the actress echoes the minds of many actors who have described it as a loveless enclave where fish eat fish without any scruples.

“Well, a lot of people in the industry are two-faced people but that doesn’t generalize the fact that there are no genuine friends amongst us. As an example, I’m extremely loyal and down for whoever I call a friend. At least there are still people like me who love hard and respect relationships and friendships with people in the industry,” she says.

Sarah Martins had her secondary education at Owerri Girls’ Secondary School in Imo State. She had her Ordinary National Diploma (OND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) at Ken Saro Wiwa Polytechnic before bagging a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Sarah Martins has etched her name on the Nigerian movie industry landscape and some of the films she has starred in include The Widows, Dangerous Mad Man, The Gods Are Wise, Family Lies, Feast of The Spirits and many more.
