ACReSAL project set to empower Zamfara residents

The Agro Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscape (ACReSAL) project in Zamfara state has set out to provide empowerment to communities as it organised training of benefiting groups on revolving funds in the state.

The training of community beneficiaries was part of the final staged plan for the disbursement of cash to business groups in the state.

Among those groups who attended the funds-revolving training were the Community Implementation Group (CIGs), Community Funds Revolving Monitoring Committee (CFRMC), Local Government Project Implementation Committee (LPIC), and State Project Implementation Committee (SPIC) among others in the state.

Speaking on Tuesday during the opening ceremony for the two-day training on revolving funds organized by the ACReSAL project in collaboration with Zamfara State Ministry of Environment held at the command guest house in Gusau, the state capital, the state project coordinator Nasiru Bello said the training was timely for the beneficiaries in the state.

“This training is organised to sensitize people, particularly those who would benefit from cash loans from Bungudu, Gusau and Kaura Namoda local government areas, the importance of saving and paying back loans for others to benefit,” he said.

Nasiru Bello explained that ACReSAL is a project initiated by the federal government through World Bank assistance aimed at addressing critical challenges

‘”Our project was to ensure a more sustainable future with aimed to support communities to improve capacity and investments for sustainable livelihoods,” he explained

In his remarks, the chairman steering committee and commissioner for environment and solid minerals who was represented by the permanent secretary Alhaji Garba Altine Dauran called on beneficiaries to utilize what they were given, saying thatthe  ACReSAL project was aimed to improve the living standards of the community.

Dauran appreciated the support of the state Governor Dauda Lawal to ensure the successful implementation of the ACReSAL project in the state.
