The Agro Climate Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) project, funded by the World Bank, has successfully completed projects valued at N2.25 billion in Zamfara State, with commissioning scheduled to commence shortly.

Speaking during an event in Gusau, the Zamfara State Project Coordinator, Nasiruddeen Bello, stated that the projects were executed to tackle challenges related to land degradation and climate change across the state.

According to Bello, the projects ready for commissioning include 25 solar-powered boreholes constructed across the 14 local government areas, six weather meteorological stations, and the upgrade of the State Water Treatment Laboratory at the Gusau Water Board.

“We also installed 30KVA Solar Power at State Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, procured sanitation equipment to two catchments of three local government areas which are to be distributed to communities in Gusau, Bungudu and Kaura Namoda areas, and are ready for commissioning,” he mentioned.

He further revealed that ACReSAL had procured four units of 4×4 Hilux vehicles and one unit of a Toyota Prado V6, which are to be allocated to the state’s three core ministries: Environment, Agriculture, and Water Resources.

“We also procured two truck tippers and one payloader vehicle for waste and environmental sanitation to be used in the two catchments of three local government areas of Gusau, Bungudu, and Kaura Namoda in the state,” he stated.
