ACPN conducts free medical screening for over 5,000 residents in Oyo

The Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria, ACPN has conducted free medical screening on over 5,000 residents of Ilaji community in Akanran-Ibadan, Oyo.

The association headed by Pharm Adebayo Gbadamosi conducted the exercise as part of the investiture programme of Engr. Dotun Sanusi as the Grand patron of ACPN.

The investiture which took place on Friday, began with health outreach where hundreds of indigenes of Akanran, Ona Ara Local Government were attended to by the Community Pharmacists and were supported with basic health services and medications.

The screening which includes blood pressure, blood glucose, malaria, hepatitis and HIV catered for 500 beneficiaries within the Ilaji community.

While delivering a keynote address, the National Chairman of ACPN, Pharm Adewale Oladigbolu, FPSN examined the benefit of Community Pharmacists to the community.

The event anchored by the executives of ACPN Oyo State Branch was also graced with the presence of Fellows of PSN, Distinguished Pharmacists Awardees, Merit Award Winners, leadership of PSN Oyo State, Young Pharmacists group and the who is who in Pharmacy in Oyo State.

In his remark, Chief Dotun Sanusi thanked the Association for fishing him out based on his numerous community-led activities and stated that he has accepted the responsibilities that go with such an honour.

He also promised that he will use his personal network to advocate for the Pharmacists in the state and ensure the profession is accorded her due place of recognition.

The association notable for embarking on several laudable programmes which project the services of Community Pharmacists in their immediate local environments have been involved in various health promotion activities towards improved health coverage for the citizens at the grassroots.

Chief Dotun Sanusi is the Chief Executive Officer of Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resorts, a sprawling edifice that is house to relaxation and training events in Ibadan. A palatial resort with hundreds of rooms for out-of-town rejuvenation, retreat, gaming, sporting events and all that are fit for revitalisation of body and soul. Ilaji Hotel & Sports Resort is housed to over 300 youths in her Football Academy and not rivaled by any Resort in Southwest Nigeria.

The investiture of Engr Dotun Sanusi, as a grand patron with unique personality who has deep interest in developing his people at the grassroots contribute in no small way to the aspiration and services of the association.
