Academy holds dialogue on promotion of reading culture, youth in leadership

The founder of Tea Prime Leadership Academy, Esther Adelana, has lamented the poor reading culture among Nigerian youths, calling for collective efforts to reverse the trend.

Speaking in Abuja during the maiden edition of her talk show, Book, Conversation & Coffee with Tea: Building Bridges Between Generations, held at Mamman Vatsa Writers’ Village, Adelana highlighted the Academy’s longstanding commitment to leadership development through seminars, workshops, and webinars since its establishment in 2017.

A certified leadership coach, conference speaker, and author, Adelana stressed the need for sustained campaigns to improve reading habits among young people, emphasising that reading remains a crucial pathway to grooming future leaders in the country.

“Over the years, we’ve been promoting issues around leadership through our seminars, workshops, and webinars. In 2023, we toured four universities in Nigeria, and it had a remarkable impact on society.

“Today, we are launching our first talk show, Book Conversations and Coffee with Tea, where we come together to discuss issues around society, arts, and culture, which helps in solving societal problems.

“We aim to promote a reading culture in Nigeria through book chats with our guest authors. These authors, some of whom have written five to ten books, will discuss the themes of their works, encouraging the audience to get and read their books,” she stated.

The event also featured former Senior Special Adviser to the President on Research and Strategy, Tunji Lardner, who spoke on building bridges between generations, while Dr. Charles Omole, the pioneer Director General of the Institute for Police and Security Policy Research, offered young people practical advice on thriving in their 20s, urging them to embrace courage and wisdom.
