Academy Halogen, a subsidiary of Halogen Security Group, has officially unveiled its new brand identity as an institution for capacity development, research, thought leadership and advancement of enterprise security risk management.

Academy Halogen, registered in Nigeria as Halogen School of Security Studies & Technology, commemorated its new corporate identity with a colourful graduation ceremony of 88 Police Officers in Professional Executive Diploma in Crime Prevention and Community Safety.

The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Kpotun Idris, the special guest at the event,  who was represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations, Lagos, DCP Alli Muhammed, commended Academy Halogen and its co-facilitating organizations for initiating a training programme targeting the Police at  such a security-challenging time.

He also charged the graduands to deploy the newly acquired knowledge to boost Nigerian Police crime prevention capacity nationwide.

In his keynote address, the Vice-Chancellor, Elizade University, Professor Theophilus Oyeyemi Fadayomi observed that series of violent and social disruptions across Nigeria put the survival of everyone at risk.

“The 2017 crime Incidence Matrix showing high rate of offences against property, persons and assets, confirms that the present policing strategy needs to be revisited in order to ensure that crime incidences reduce with inclusiveness of the community and other stakeholders,’’ he noted.

Professor Fadayomi however expressed optimism that these issues have been properly addressed under the Professional Executive Diploma programme.

Group Managing Director of Halogen Security Company Limited, Mr. Wale Olaoye commended the leadership of the Nigerian Police for allowing its men to be trained for the professional enhancement programme.

In his brief welcome address, Dr. Abiola Allen, who doubles as the Programme Director and President of The Association of Certified Forensic Intelligence and Crime Analysts (ACFICA), described the programme model as very rich, practical and germane to building great careers in the police force.
