National publicity secretary of the party, Olayinka Nola confirmed the fracas to the Nigerian Tribune.
She said in his motion, Aworele, also stated that some people who were not members of the NWC were invited to the meeting and demanded to know on what capacity they were invited to the emergency meeting.
Aworele’s motion was seconded by the National Organizing Secretary, Ibrahim, she said.
According to her, there was commotion following the motion, which made the National Auditor, Ayodele Ishmail to invite the police on the instruction of the national chairman of the party.
The police officers who were invited subsequently arrested Aworele and Ibrahim.
Nigerian Tribune confirmed that they were still in police custody at Police Divisional Headquarters, Lagos Street, Garki 11, as at the time of this report.
She said, “Following the arrest and detention of the two principal officers of the party, the meeting was disrupted.”
Nola went further to say that, “The party had scheduled a National Executive Committee meeting on 3rdNovember 2016, which is usually preceded by a National Working Committee meeting.
“Majority of NWC members did not see the need for an emergency meeting a few days to the scheduled meetings.
“AD urges members to remain claim as the matter is being addressed.”
