Aboh monarch sets up reconciliation committee to promote peace in community

The traditional ruler of Aboh Kingdom, Delta State, His Imperial Majesty Obi Dr. Greg Oputa III, and the Aboh Council of Chiefs have approved the formation of a committee to reconcile all aggrieved persons in the kingdom.

The committee is headed by Professor Eddie Alumona, while other members will be appointed by His Imperial Majesty in due course.

This appointment was announced in a five-point communiqué issued by the Palace Secretary, Chief Amaechi Chime, at the end of the second and final meeting of the year between the king and his Council of Chiefs at the Royal Palace in Aboh, the headquarters of Ndokwa East Local Government Area.

The monarch was recently presented with a staff of office by the state government.

According to the communiqué, the reconciliation committee is expected to work diligently to bring aggrieved parties together in the collective interest of promoting peace and harmonious coexistence among the people. This initiative aims to advance the socio-economic and infrastructural development of the kingdom.

The Council of Chiefs meeting, presided over by the monarch, also approved the appointment of Mr. John Ugbome as the interim president of the Aboh Youth Council, in conjunction with Mr. Onyenichie Ossai.

They will serve for three months, during which they are expected to collaborate with the king to develop a program of action to elect a new executive for the youth council.

Their appointments, according to the communiqué, took effect on Thursday, December 19, 2024.

Additionally, the proposals to gazette all Aboh chiefs and revalidate the Olinzeles and their titles, in line with the Delta State Traditional Chiefs Edict, were approved.

Earlier, the traditional ruler urged council members to set aside their differences and work as a team for the collective good of the people. He emphasized the need for concerted efforts to improve the overall well-being of residents in the area.
