THE National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Progressive Alliance (PPA) has announced the suspension of the state party chairman, Mr Emeka Okoafor, Mr Uche Enyioko and Hon. Lazarus Obete, among others, from the party until further notice.
According to the NWC, those involved should vacate offices and leave the party until the investigation of the allegations against them are concluded.
The zonal chairman of the party and secretary, Disciplinary Committee of the NWC, Prince Igbokwe .O. Igbokwe, who announced the suspension, said the NWC took the decision after Emeka Okoafor and others failed to appear before the five-man disciplinary committee set up by the NWC to investigate them on the alleged anti-party activities.
According to Igbokwe, the committee was set up on October 31, 2016 by the current state party chairman, Mr Perfect Okerie but, to its dismay, the said persons refused to appear before the five-man panel leading to their expulsion, he said.
The secretary of the disciplinary committee noted that after a week, none of them deemed it necessary to respond to the issues raised against them, hence it declared them suspended.
This was just as he said the development might lead to their total sack.
On the councillorship and LG chairmanship election slated for December 17, 2016, Prince Igbokwe assured that the party had concluded its primaries and put all machinery in place to ensure victory.
“We must deny these groups the undue publicity they crave,” the minister said.
