Chris Nkwonta, a member of the House of Representatives, representing Ukwa East/West of Abia State, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Nkwonta’s defection was announced on Wednesday during the House plenary by the Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas, in Abuja.
The Deputy Minority Leader, Aliyu Madaki, who is a member of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) from Kano, while reacting to the defection, called that Nwonta’s seat be declared vacant while citing a section of the constitution.
In response, the Speaker told Madaki that he was aware of a faction in the PDP.
